Restoran Ang Hoay Lor Restaurant

Recommended by Ah Luar for first stop lunch. It's a Hokkien restaurant which famous with their hokkien specialty dishes. It is one of the authentic restaurant in Penang. It's an old restaurant with home style feeling and authentic feel when you step in.

First we have Fried Tang Hoon topped with prawns and oysters. The noodles are fried with wok hei feel and tasted smooth as its' look. The beautiful strands of the noodles makes the foods look appetizing.

Next we have Bak Kee Soup. As you can see from the picture, the pieces of meat that are coated with corstarch and deep fried before cooked in a starcy soup with cabbage. The soup was very strong flavored and it taste delicious. A small bowl of it will be just nice for me. Too much of it will turned out to be otherwise. The meat is tender and crunchy on the outer layer.

Not forgetting the famous fried oyster which taste different from the ones i tried in Singapore or JB. This is more sticky type and the oysters are fresh as well. Kudos when you have it with their chilli sauce.

Lastly, Fried Oyster mee which has the yellow noodles with pork, prawns, vegetables and oyster. The gravy was indeed blend well with the combination and enjoyed the yellow noodles with the gravy.

Total lunch is around RM68 for 4 pax include a pot of tea. If you wish to try them out, be prepared to wait for more than 20 minutes for the foods to be served. We were like hungry ghosts when the foods are served. The waiting time is always painful as we need to wait for 2 tables' dishes are served. We are served by elderly so you can guess the speed is a bit slower than youngsters. It's family business i guess because they all worked like family.
