If you are going for Bangkok trip, you have to dine in at one of the famous Somboon Seafood in Bangkok. It is one of the best seafood restaurant in town. There only have 5 branches in Bangkok and do not be confuse with the fake Somboon Seafood restaurant.
We were brought to the fake one by the tuk tuk driver and insists to charge us double for the fare. It is so ridiculous! We insisted to go to the real Somboon and no choice to pay them extra. You can see the huge difference of the real Somboon and the fake ones because the fake ones are very quiet. No customers at all.
Somboon Seafood is so famous that even the Japan royalties dine in before.
So why not give it a try when you are in town?
You can see the crowd and the customers are non-stop. We were in the waiting list for 30-45minutes before we can step into the restaurant. You can imagine how good the business is...
Peking Duck 700Baht. The price is a bit pricey but it is worthwhile to give it a try on the taste. Totally not a disappointing one. The skin is crispy and was nicely sliced well to go with the crepe and sauce.
Asparagus with scallop with price range 100-200 Baht.
Peking Duck meat that was suggested by the staff to fried it. It taste tasty when served hot. But as the dish becomes cold, the meat is a bit hard to chew. So it will be better to have it while it is pipping hot.
Stirred fried "Yod Mara" in oyster sauce 100-150 Baht depending on the size S or L.
Steamed Fish 300-400 Baht. It is nicely done and served hot.
As long as the fish is fresh and bit of effort on the cooking skill will totally make the fish a worthwhile dish to enjoy. The soup base is totally awesome to go with the fish meat and not to mention with the plain rice as well. My sis finished everything!
Pineapple Fried Rice 300Baht which is just nice for 2 pax. It is yummy! It is totally different taste from the one we had locally in Singapore or Malaysia. Perhaps the rice that they use and also the ingredients that they use to cook the dish. The pineapple blend into the rice and brings out the fragrance taste of the rice.
Grilled Seabass with salt.Price range from 300-400 Baht depending on the fish size. The fish is a bit dried but it was nicely grilled. I don't really enjoyed it as the fish is a bit bland. However, if you dips it with their specialty sauce, the taste will give you another thought.
Fried Original Curry Crab. 120Baht per 100g for size S and 135Baht per 100g for Jumbo Size. The meat is fresh and their curry sauce is not spicy at all. The crab meat dips with the sauce was a perfect combination.
Overall the dinner is enjoyable and the price is reasonable. The staffs are very responsive and the dishes are served within 20 minutes. I would say that the standard of the dishes were on par value with the reviews mentioned by bloggers.
So if you are heading to Bangkok, perhaps you could want to give it a try.
