A Tour to Marina Barrage

I'm finally here!aha..Been wanting to visit this place for very long time after i heard about this. I got kaki to tag along and we took train to Marina Bay station and took free shuttle place to this place. The weather is damn hot and my eyes hardly open.Everyone knows my pair of eyes is so small.haha!
Lazy to explain further. Let the pic do the talking:-

Walnut & me-had my sunglasses on to hide my eyes.barely open at all..
So hot that we decided to enter to the gallery at level 2. It's air-conditioned.You can get many source of information in the gallery. The gallery is divided into 6 categories which describe the sustainable environment we have now.

Empty used bottles are collected and used for decorations

Random photos in the gallery:-

Can't see me clearly le..Too blue and the colours keep changing every few seconds. This is called the organic tree.

Then we have the used newspaper stored in it with the explaination.
These photos taken in Gallery 1.

" Gallery 1 showcases the environmental challenges of today. Central to this gallery is the “organic tree”. Illuminated by a play of three colours, it symbolises the uncertain state of our present environment. Keep an eye out for the feature wall made entirely from NEWater bottles. NEWater, is ultra-clean water that has been treated with advanced membrane technologies to a very high standard. It marks an achievement in Singapore’s green efforts. Its stringent purification and treatment processes helps to ensure we enjoy a sustainable water supply as the recycled water can be reused many times over". (Sources from the website)

Below pictures are from Gallery2 which recounts the clean up of the Singapore and Kallang Rivers. In the 1970s, both rivers were like open sewers, choked with rubbish and emitting an unbearable stench. Learn how Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, as Prime Minister of Singapore then, challenged a nation and brought about irrevocable change. Through the clean-up spanning ten years, witness Singapore’s development from independence towards a mature city practicing environmental awareness. (sources from the website)

The water drops..
Next Gallery 3- features the Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters programme, launched by PUB in 2007. See the programme in action, as waterways throughout Singapore are revamped and beautified. Discover how these rejuvenated waters bring communities together and forge a common need to cherish this precious liquid. Visitors even have the chance to create their own ideal waterways around their homes!(Sources from the website)

Gallery 4 as per below pictures:- details the intricate construction and operations of the dam. Watch what happens when rain falls and water builds up behind the barrage. See the pumps at work and learn all about the three-fold benefits of the dam.(Sources from the website)

So, here we can see our pictures in the screen to reflect that we need to be responsible to the environment. But we are so excited having the screen with the ability to take our pictures. We took non-stop.haha!

There even have a computerised customized e-postcard for us to take picture.See the pic below. We took many shots and then the computer will process and fit us in the ready wallpaper postcard and we can send it to our email address.

Ta dah...2 pictures below are the computerized e-postcard we took. But not very nice. Our looks are disfigured. The pixel isn't that good. But anyway, it's cool to feature in a postcard..hehe
Then we went up to the green loof which is tht peak of the barrage. Many people came here for picnic. I think it's a new place for Singaporeans to come now as Singapore has no many places to go except shopping but shopping needs money. Sight-seeing no need.haha!

Random views from the roof

Oh ya..the best part is that from the roof, you can view the Singapore Flyer and get a good shot of it. Look at the pictures below. Doesn't it looks nice?hehe

Couple of the day- Rui & Xia

And of course me & her.The sun is still striking and i feel so sticky under the hot sun.
