Wild Honey @ Mandarin Gallery

Photos credit to Justin

This is my second visit to Wild Honey and it was an unpleasant experience. My first post is here. I went to the branch located at Mandarin Gallery and it was terrible. The waiting time was 1 hour and almost 30 minutes. The restaurant's seats are quite limited and there are only 2 tables that can fit 6 people at one time.

So, we will have to wait for one of the table to clear. It was truly terrible as one of the table customers were talking away and even the next table has turnover ( Changed customers), they are still seating comfortably at the seats. But customers are always right to enjoy the ambience and space as they paid for it. So it actually depends how you judge. However, i feel that it's quite bad to occupy the seats for such a long time despite the service staffs have tried to give hint that they are people waiting outside.

So we ended to have our brunch around 1plus and nearly to 2pm. The branch at Mandarin Gallery does not share the same system with Scotts Square. We will need to self-service to place an order and pay on the spot before we seat down and wait for the foods to be served. It makes me feel like a fast food concept though. But the foods that are ordered will be served by the service staff.

Wild Honey provide the visual and clear explanation of each dish through the ipad. It provides customers to see and visual the foods that are served in the restaurant. So it was a good point here except for the ordering part that we will need to order ourselves at the counter.

After we ordered, we went back to our seats and wait to be served. The serving time was fast within 20 minutes time.
This time round I ordered Californian and consists of eggs softly scrambled with tofu, fresh herbs, red, green and yellow peppers, mushrooms, scallions on chargrilled ciabatta. It's not a good choice for me & Daphne because the whole dish does not have single meat in it. However, the taste is not disappointing at all. The softness of scrambled egg with the mixture of stated ingredients provide different taste.

Closer look of the dish

English Breakfast is the ultimate choice i would say.
The serving is big for me and the variety is there. It's the signature dish @ Wild Honey. I ordered this when i went to the other branch @ Scotts Square. You can find the post here.

Next we have the Tunisian.
It's the sizzling pan of spicy shakshouka (Tomato, onion, red pepper, chilli), studded with Chorizo sausage, crowned with two fried eggs, signature brioche & Israeli salad. The presentation is attractive and my friends enjoyed the dish. The sauce is rich and it blends well with the combination of ingredients that comes together.

Phew...our lunch ended around 3 pm if i remembered clearly.
Our dinning speed was quite fast and basically we dine in time period is shorter than our waiting time.

In my point of view, the place is over-rated as the waiting time was super long. Too bad my friends wanted to try as they read many reviews about it. So we waited for it.

Ardent's Cafe Bar @ 80 Neil Road

This weekend is slightly different from the usual ones as i spent my weekend in Singapore. After several of attempts to meet up for a dinner and obviously failed badly due to my inconsistency work timing. So, we ended up having our breakfast brunch together on this beautiful Sunday :)

Ardent's Cafe Bar which located at 80 Neil Road and a walking distance from Outram Park MRT was our choice for the day. If you wish to give it a try, do exit from Exit H and it is about 300++ m away.

The cafe is actually a shop house renovated to be a cafe on the day time and bar at night time. The design was cosy and the ambiance is quite soft and relax. The lightings played a part too as it is not glaring and the lights are dimmer so you totally can't feel the outdoor brightness. However, the design out from the cafe door is a space of green garden with the swings and white garden chairs and bench around it. The interior design and the exterior design gave me a different kind of feeling.

Below are our choice of the day:-

A pot of passionfruit tea S$6.80.
The fragance smell of the passionfruit which smells very sweet but when i drank, it doesn't taste sweet at all. By the way, it's refillable :)

Ardent's Breakfast Free Style S$20.00
You can choose 5 items from the menu lists given.
Snail Sausage, sauteed mushroom, smoked salmon, bacon, turkey ham.
The snail sausage is a cheese sausage as I cut into smaller size, the cheese flows out from the sausage. The smoked salmon taste good as well.

We ordered plain rosti S$7.80 with add-on honey baked ham S$3.50.
The plain rosti is quite disappointing though.
I still prefer Marche rosti as this one a bit hard and taste like not well-cooked.

Here is my breakfast brunch partner, Charlene for the day.

Overall the services are acceptable.
The service staff has a pleasant smile and very approachable.
Overall I would review as 3 out of 5 and it's a nice place to hang out as well.
