Jojo Little Kitchen Pan Mee

It has been 2years since i last tried KL famous chilli pan mee. The first time I tried the noodles was on my first job in KL 2 years back which is located at Restaurant Kin Kin @ off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. It is actually nearby to my office back then. Since then the chilli pan mee business is booming.

Rui brought me to Jojo Little Kitchen instead. He said it is famous with it too. So we headed over for dinner before we headed back to Singapore. We went to the subang jaya branch and i saw few other shops that are selling chilli pan mee too but their business is not as good as Jojo Little Kitchen.

Chilli pan mee isn't just the normal noodles as you see. The secret is the dry fried chilli flakes but go easy with amount you going to take. It is super duper spicy! But you will be amazed with the taste when you mix it with the noodles, egg yolks and silver anchories. Never estimate the power of dry chili flakes.
Lat Jiu Pan Mee (Dry) @ RM6.50 per serving

Vegetable soup @ RM3 per serving.
Simple vegetables soup to clear the spicy throat.

Elaine ordered Knife cut noodles (Dried prawns soup) @ RM6.80 per serving
Clear soup base with the firm knife cut noodles brings out the aroma of the hot pipping noodles. It taste extremely warm when you have it during rainny days.

Porkball soup @ RM5 for 6pcs of porkball.
No much comment of it. The soup base are taste alike with vegetable soups.

The serving time was fast within 15 minutes i would say so.
Fret not to go with empty stomach but just don't finish up the bottle of chilli flakes that may you go red!

Chinatown Seng Kee, Kuala Lumpur

November has been a busy month from the start. I spend my first weekend of the month at Kuala Lumpur. Thanks to rui for his hospitality over the weekend. We reached KL around 10plus and we headed to chinatown Seng Kee located at Jalan Sultan, Petaling Jaya Street. The last time i had them was 1-2 years ago with Sin Yee if my memory never fails me.

The kitchen is just by the road side and the ingredients and kitchen utensils are all prepared outside. So, if you are concern with hygiene, you might want to think twice.
But the foods are as good as it taste.

The famous Lao Shu Fen (Rice noodles) with raw egg.
It's their signature dish and very rich with their ingredients. It is served with claypot and pipping hot. The minced meats are covered on top of the rice noodles and when it mix together with the raw eggs, it taste delicious. The texture is smooth and Q as the raw egg are mixed together and cover the first layer of the rice noodles. It can just slipped through the chopsticks.

Another famous signature dish- Siew Yuk Noodles.
The noodles are wantan mee or also known as sang meen which topped with siew yuk and cooked with dark soy sauce. It's superb dark, greasy with the siew yuk( fried roast pork) and lotsa garlic mixed together with the noodle. I don't really favor it as it is greasy and oily for me

Too much of the oily, greasy and meaty dishes, we ordered a plate of vegetable to go with it.
No much comment on the vegetables but it's truly chewy and fresh.

As for the price wise, i personally think is affordable. It's around RM10++ per pax for the dishes and drinks we ordered. Absolutely worth trying KL signature dish which open for business for late nights. There are always people come here purposely to have it for supper after their clubbing sessions or whatever reason.

No proper address found in website. So if you wish to give it a try, take a left immediately after Nando's when you are heading towards Petaling Street (Jalan Sultan). Just keep heading straight and you will see the restaurant at the end on your right side.
Good Luck!!

香港街珍達記 @ Joo Chiat Place

A short update as I simply can't resist to share my findings during my lunch yesterday. My colleague recommended this nice place little hawker centre located at the junction of Joo Chiat Place and Still Road. I will never found this hidden gem if not my colleague who drove us over for lunch. The stall is famous with it's XO Crab Bee Hoon but we do not have time to have it. So, we ordered their second speciality, XO Fish Bee Hoon Soup @ S$6.00 per serving. We waited for 20minutes just to get a bowl of it. I ordered the fried fish and the sliced fish is thick and the meat is tasty when it goes with the XO sauce.

I was impressed with the taste of the XO soup base. It's worth trying it but i will not wait for so long unless i have extra time. We had a rush lunch as the waiting time is way too long. There are many people ordered this when we had our lunch there. Definitely a good place to recommend though.

Tian Wai Tian Fish Head Steamboat

Joe drove Yunita and me for dinner after work on last Friday. We were supposed to drove to JB for seafood but we can't knock off on time so.. we decided to settle our dinner in Singapore then. Joe brought us the famous teochew fishhead steamboat located at 1382 Serangoon Road. I was doubtful when he told me how good is the soup base until i really tried it.

The place was full house and we need to search our seats. We even need to walk into their kitchen to get our orders ordered. The staffs are superb busy serving and no time to entertain the clients. So in the end, the staff open a table for us behind the shop. We were like VIP!Our table is middle of the lorong! .
This is the first time i had my dinner such way.
This is one of the best teochew fishhead steamboat in Singapore based on reviews through social media.
The soup base plenty of savoury fish, the fish is fresh and the meat is soft, juicy and tender. They are served in charcoal aluminium steamboat pots. We can top up the soup but we called for twice but they did not top up for us :( Guess we are far apart from the shop because we are having our dinner middle of the back alley!!Hahaha!

We ordered Hae Zhou which has the combination of chunks of water chestnuts.Water chestnuts give lots of crunchy taste to the dish. This is a recommendation dish from reviews and i saw them on almost all the tables that night. So you can imagine how many hundreds or thousands of plate were sold for this particular dish on a day itself?

Vegetables are in our list as well. Czzar style of working really opens our appetite of eating as well.

We also ordered tofu with prawn and special sauce which is also used to serve crabs. I love the softness and tender of japanese tofu with the sauce.

Dinner was simple and nice. Definitely a good place to recommend for big group to have Czzar style. The steamboat soup base was fantastic except that the service was not that ideal. We need to self-service a bit because they are not going to bother you at all. They are busying rushing out the orders. One point that i want to highlight is that the food servings are quite fast within 20 minutes. This is because we ordered the common dishes as other tables. So people if you guys are dropping by for dinner and want to have the foods are fast enough to display on your table, you know what you should do :)

Sorry for the not so sharp photos. All photos taken using my iPhone 4s. As u can see back alley has no much lights and we can only rely on the street lamps. It was a good experience having the table set up at the centre of the alley and people walking pass and looking at our food.

Total spend for the dinner was around S$48++ not exceeding S$50 for 3 of us. Overall foods are good but not the services though. So don't expect much of their services when you decided to go for their foods.

One thing to take note is that once all the foods are served, customers are required to foot the bill first before they can enjoy the foods.
