Restoran Nyonya Makko

I had my company dinner at Peranakan (nyonya) restaurant called Restoran Nyonya Makko which is located at Taman Melaka Raya. It is famous with their peranakan cuisine and also their long history established on the year 1984. Superb long time with their original taste of cuisine.

Various of dishes that we ordered which includes Cincalok eggs, tauhu satay, curry devils, Jenak Goreng Chilli (fish) and vegetables and much more which i forget the name of the foods. The foods are very delicious and the combination of the ingredients turned out perfectly well.

I am in love with the Jenak Goreng Chilli where the Jenak fish was deeply fried and fresh pounded chilli all over the fish are simply irresistible to have it.Spicy for me but you can truly taste the freshness of chilli and the combination original taste of the fish meat.

Lemon Nana Udang was simply taste fantastic. The prawn was big size and fresh. Although i can't take prawn, my colleagues described that the meat texture was sweet and goes extremely well with the sauce. You can taste the juiciness of the sauce when you dip it with the prawn meat.

Sotong goreng was nicely present and the chewy taste of sotong can be tasted as well. It goes well with plain rice and the colour is attractive as well.

Tauhu satay is something special to us as the satay sauce has rich ingredients in it with lotsa crushed peanuts in it. The taste of the satay sauce blends well with the fried beancurd and doesn't feel dry as well.

These are the few dishes that i can remembered clearly the taste as i am obsessed over the taste. The whole dinner was RM685 with 3 tables with the same dishes.

Jonker 88 Dessert Museum Cafe,Malacca

Oppss...i know this is super outdated post. I just realized the post is still in my draft post. We headed to Jonker Street to look for the famous dessert and nyonya assam laksa.

It is located at the name of shop called Jonker 88 Dessert Museum Cafe. It is always crowded with people. The cafe has the design of heritage style with antique and wooden furniture and displays inside the cafe. The wall are filled with Baba & Nyonya paintings and antique stuffs mounted on it. There are various vintage items surrounded the place.

Yung Hue & me

The front shot of the shop. So we started our food tasting session.

Nyonya Laksa which looks surprisingly heavy taste but it is not.

In love with the gravy taste and simply delicious.

Nyonya Assam Laksa which taste just nice.

Not too sour and not too salty. It is just nice with bit of sweetness when you taste it.

Baba Chicken Laksa.

The noodle texture is just nice and the curry blend it well with the noodle when we have it together. You just can't get enough of it.

Malacca famous baba durian chendol.

The dessert is refreshing and aromatic taste. The chendol has the traditional way with gula melaka on top of the shredded ice.

Everything is gone!Everyone is happy with the foods.

Price range from RM4- RM5++. It is reasonable though.

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball

I had my company trip to Malacca mid of this month. We went to so called second famous chicken rice ball shop in Malacca. It is located far end of the Jonker Street. It is exposed to various media such as blogs, magazine and also TV.

There is always a queue in front of the shop waiting to be seated in to try the chicken rice balls. The shop is always flooded with tourists and we are one of them as well. This is my first time trying this shop's chicken rice ball.

This is how the chicken rice ball looks like. It is basically chicken rice cooked slightly longer and then molded into ping pong size. It has the same taste as normal chicken rice except that the texture is more soft and slimy. It should be served in hot serving but it is not. Thus, explains the satisfaction is not there. You can't really taste the fragrance of the chicken rice.

Some said five chicken rice ball equivalent of one plate of chicken rice. But i don't think the amount is equivalent as we ate more than five chicken rice ball.

Chicken rice ball must be served with steamed chicken. The chicken was served smooth and oily. However, the serving is cold and the taste is tasteless. I still prefer the first shop (Chung Wah) i ever tried when i went with my friends 1 year ago.

We ordered assam pedas fish and it taste not bad. The fish is tender and goes well with the assam pedas. It is spicy though. I mean spicy for me but my colleagues enjoyed it.

We also ordered cabbage to go with the rice. No much comment on the dish as it is just normal cooking style and the taste is acceptable.

Overall is ok but not up to my satisfaction level. We end up queuing at Chung Wah to tapao back to the bus and give everyone a try. My colleagues preferred Chung Wah rather than this. Chung Wah steamed chicken served hot and the texture is smoother and tasty. It goes well with their signature chicken rice ball.

However, if you guys prefer environment or atmosphere wise, Hoe Kee would be the better choice as it is air-conditioned and the space is much more spacious than Chung Wah. Both shops have their own crowd of customers. Fret not to miss out chicken rice ball as both shops are equally famous in Malacca.

But this is only my point of view in terms of the foods that i tasted.
No other particular reason :)

Attractions @ Malacca

Besides good food to enjoy when u guys make a trip down to Malacca, you can also enjoy the attractions there. Besides the famous Jonker Street, there also have the Red house, A Famosa, Saint Paul Church, Malacca Revolving Tower which i forgotten the name. & also the River cruise.

Not forgetting the lovely decorations of the trickshaw which are queued nicely at Red House providing their services to tour around Malacca town. The trickshaw has many flowers attached together and shaped into nicely butterfly style, bouquet of flowers etc. It also plays music when trickshaw driver rides you along the journey which a certain charge. I'm not sure about the charges but i think it will be expensive.

After the lunch- Chicken rice ball, we walked to Saint Paul Church under the hot sun. I was grumbling along the way. But luckily the distance was quite short and it is not bad after all.

Followed by the A Famosa with the random pics of the building and also the cravings of ancients.Random pics taken below:-

Daphne & me with one of the cravings

It's all well-reserved with their cravings although some are already cracked. Ancients people have very good skills on their cravings leaving their history passed on to our generation

We went to one of our fren's mum nursery. Weather is super hot and we just stroll along the nursery and took a few snaps and proceed for teatime again. Beautiful orchids & well maintained...

Group photos...

Next we have the Malacca tower which cost each person RM10 per entry to enjoy the view from the top of the sky. The entrance building as shown below

This is how the tower looks like overall

Photos taken inside the cable before we set off up to the sky

View from the top...

We can see many cars from top and it really freaks me out.I do not really dare to stand up near to the glass panel to look. I just took the photo from my seat :)

We can also see the Eye on Malacca which is closed for the time being now.Do not know the reason but it certaintly beautified the scenery of Malacca :)

After we had a look from the top, we headed to river cruise. Entry remain the same RM10 per pax. It was drizzling when we went for the ride.
Views throughout the ride from the starting point to the end
We can see some of the reserved Kampung Melayu houses along the riverside. Based on Kim & Josh, some of the Kampung houses are now empty but government still reserved and maintain the house in good condition for tourist sight seeing.

We also can see the the building drawed with the historical features attached on it. It's to create awareness for the tourists and spread the history of malacca.

The boat brought us back to the starting point once we reached the edge of the river.
We had a wonderful experience throughout the 2 days trip with sight seeings and foods. Waiting for the next trip soon :)
