Hunt for Good Foods @ Hong Kong

Our first meal when we reached Mongkok area,Hong Kong.

We headed to the recommended Chan Kee Restaurant which is famous with its roasted duck and pork and also the french toast. It is actually located in between shops and walking distance from mongkok station.

The speed of serving is fast and the presentation is nice as well. Not to mention the texture of the meat is fantastic. The texture is smooth and tender. Your appetite will seems to grow much more once you have it with a bowl of white rice.

As for the french toast, i have no preferences and it's not that simple to me either. Taste wise is good and taste like usual french toast style.

Next we have tea time session with Hong Kong famous polo bun.

I guess everyone who has been to HK will surely have tried their famous tradition polo bun.We headed to this particular shop 旺角金華冰室 as it was highly recommended in the social media of its polo bun.It's also featured in newspaper.

Definitely not to miss so we left a portion of our stomach empty to fill them with these!

The polo bun is soft in the inside and once you had a bite, you will able feel the smoothness of the bun's texture and neverthless goes well with the butter slice. The ice tea is definitately is a must drink when you go to HK coffeeshop so called char chan teng.

The egg tart taste is delicious as well. The texture is different from the ones that i tried in Malaysia or Singapore. Their outer layer thickness is very slim and you can truly taste the golden ingredients of the egg tart. Simply will feel full after having 1-2 of them

Few walking distance away is the famous Yee Shun Milk Company-義順牛奶公司. A little of the history as this dessert restaurant is well established and well known in Macau. It was then venture into Hong Kong. They specialize in milk based dessert. We were finding the place and luckily there is an outlet at Nathan Road ( near to Yau Ma Tei MTR station).

We ordered 原味双皮奶 the original steamed milk pudding/ custard. The steam milk was smooth and sweet. The soft milk custard first layer of the skin is so thin that you won't feel sick having over and over again.

We ordered Red bean milk custard pudding 红豆双皮奶. The red bean was very rich and taste sweet as well. The combination is perfect as the sweetness of the red bean blend into the soft smooth texture of the pudding. Once you put into your mouth, you simply can't resist them.

Lastly the chocolate milk pudding -巧可力双皮奶

. Chocolate is always my favourite and this time round i personally feel that the original one would be better than this. The chocolate is not fully blend into the pudding and don't really able to taste the chocolate.

Yee Shun provides quite a number of choices for the steamed milk custard/ pudding. The level of sweetness is most probably less than 50% and definitely to be into your places to eat when you are in HK.

Whenever you dropped by HK, you will never fail to sign the signboards and people recommending the famous dessert shop named Hui Lau Shan- 許留山. There have many branches all over HK island.

It is famous with their fresh fruits especially mango desserts. We ordered all kinds of mango desserts to kick off our appetite before dinner. I believe no much to share for the desserts as their popularity is all over. Just ask random person on the HK street and i believe almost 90% of them knows about this famous dessert.

The XO carrot cake taste good as well. I love the soft texture of the carrot cake.

HK Travelogue I

Lotsa of photos taken during the trip to HK recently. I was too slack to get the photos in sequence to post in my blog. So here we goes with the first post of my travelogue. This time round we have 6 of us travelling and mostly to conquer the famous foods place in Mongkok area as we are staying at Mongkok.

You can check out my previous trip here(HK Disneyland) .I just realize that i didn't blog much about the first trip as it was mainly a shopping trip with Daphne.

YL said Changi airport is awarded as the best sleeping airport and off we went to stay overnite at the airport to catch the early morning flight. I should have stayed at home and laze in my cosy bed than to go to airport late. Lolz.

It was Josh first trip to HK and he is excited to find out where are the nice places to go in HK. That's how he approached girls in public. Everyone is paying attention to listen to the lady information.

After all the Q&A with the ladies, we headed to the bus interchange in airport and took a direct bus to our budget hotel, Mongkok.We settled down our luggage and off we went to Wong Tai Sin Temple (黄大仙祠). We took to Wong Tai Sin MTR station (Green line Ext B2) to reach the destination. Our ez-link card which is also known as Octopus card can be bought any MTR station. It will be very convenient to access within MTR stations.

There are many fortune tellers' stalls outside the temple servicing the prayers on their divine lot which they got it when they prayed. This is the traditional Chinese prayers do as prayers will kneel before the main altar and make a wish and shake the bamboo cylinder until a fortune stick falls out.Then the stick will exchange with a divine lot and prayers will get the fortune tellers to interpret the meanings behind it.

This is the bamboo cylinder that i mentioned earlier and each fortune sticks has the numbering stated on to exchange with the divine lot.

After visiting the temple, we headed to have desserts which will posted in another post.

Never to miss the Symphony of Lights to view the spectacular lighting combination of laser and music performance which starts at 8pm every night. The flow of the laser and the lighting synchronize well to fill the viewers' eyes for 10 minutes.

After the performance, we headed back to our hotel area for dinner. I was browsing places to eat in HK earlier and found this place from the recommendation from website.

兴记 (Heng Geh)

19 Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei

It is located at one of the lane and rather dodgy place. It doesn't seems very pleasant look from outside but fret not the food is not bad. It serves yummy claypot rice, clams in blackbean sauce and oyster omelette. Their oyster omelette is totally different from the one we had here locally. The egg was not thick and can totally taste the oyster unlike the ones we had here is too much of omelette and can't really taste the oyster.

As for the price wise, it is affordable and can be put as one of the list for budget good food when you travel there.

Basically we are exhausted for the day as we did not have a proper rest since the night before and ended up around 10 plus pm back to hotel. It was quite surprisingly that we saw there are still many people walking along the passage of the city even after midnite. I guess HK people would prefer to stay outside longer than back to their home nest to face the four walls. Here ends the HK travelogue post 1.

HK Disneyland

Finally got the chance to step my foot to HK disneyland. I went there last week with Daphne. We made last minute decision for a short trip to HK.It's a good trip after all. :)

Let's take a ride to the world of disney fantasy.
We took the mickey train ride and tadah...we arrived Disneyland and that's how our fantasy starts for the day

We bought the entrance ticket at HKD350. As we step ourselves to the world of disney, maybe u can look up to the signage above where i found it quite interesting.

We get the first shot before we enter to the magical place :)

Finally the castle for the princess where located at the heart of the disneyland.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie are the first characters that we took there. Everyone needs to queue to take a snap with the disney characters.

Disneyland has divided to several parts. There have adventure land, airspace craft, small world and etc. Below is the picture of the small world designs and me :)

We also managed to catch 3.30pm disney parade. We can see many disney characters during the parade. I did not upload here. If u guys wanna see, check out my fb as i uploaded the whole album there.

We managed to get the second shot with sleeping beauty princess. She even recognized us and said we cant never get enough princess in our photo album. It made me blushed red.But she is very gorgeous and has a very sweet voice.

Random photos of me with the balloons. HK ppl are quite friendly as they allow us to take pics everywhere and anywhere without saying 'No' to us. I still remember when i went to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, i was not allowed to take pics of their stalls etc.

When the lights are on...i think nearly to 7pm

Took another shot of the castle with the lights on and it truly awesome with the lightings. Took it while waiting for the fireworks to begin.

Finally the fireworks show starts and we can see many beautiful sparks around the castle. Just a few random shots that i managed to capture on that time.
