Desserts to TRY @ KL

TONG PAK FU

Desserts are always a must whenever we had our main course. It marks the perfect dinner. The current desserts choice in KL would be Tong Pak Fu and SnowFlakes. I had both when i went to KL on the first weekend of this month (November).

We headed to Tong Pak Fu located at Subang Jaya. Tong Pak Fu (in Cantonese) is actually a famous Ming Dynasty scholar. Fu carries the connotation of shop, Tong refers to 'Tong Shui' or dessert while Pak symbolises the blooming of different varieties and styles. The combination then brings out the message of 'a dessert shop offering myriad of choices"-be it traditional or new flavours. (Source: Malaysiamostwanted website). The dessert branches are expanding fast in Malaysia.

The famous Treka Durian- durian snow ice dessert which is extremely sinful! Very rich durian taste and the snow ice is nicely done! No much comment but once you taste it, you will enjoyed it. It will be a wise choice for durian lover.

We also ordered the Matcha (Green Tea) Snow ice with red bean. No much comment as well as it really taste like green tea and the snow ice is nicely done as well. All I can say this is Malaysia's snow ice version which is popular among Malaysian desserts kaki as well.

SNOWFLAKE

Next we have the Snowflake, Taiwanese dessert that began popular few years back. The business is booming and franchise branches are available in the market We had snowflakes for desserts on the day before Elaine and I headed back to Singapore. It's her first try and she loving it as well. I miss the taste and this time round i am able to reminisce the taste of the icy snowflakes with the yummy taro ball. I personally feel that no other desserts stall are able to copy the exact same taste of taro ball like here. It's really chewy and Q! I love to chew them and eat them with the snowflakes.

Jojo Little Kitchen Pan Mee

It has been 2years since i last tried KL famous chilli pan mee. The first time I tried the noodles was on my first job in KL 2 years back which is located at Restaurant Kin Kin @ off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. It is actually nearby to my office back then. Since then the chilli pan mee business is booming.

Rui brought me to Jojo Little Kitchen instead. He said it is famous with it too. So we headed over for dinner before we headed back to Singapore. We went to the subang jaya branch and i saw few other shops that are selling chilli pan mee too but their business is not as good as Jojo Little Kitchen.

Chilli pan mee isn't just the normal noodles as you see. The secret is the dry fried chilli flakes but go easy with amount you going to take. It is super duper spicy! But you will be amazed with the taste when you mix it with the noodles, egg yolks and silver anchories. Never estimate the power of dry chili flakes.
Lat Jiu Pan Mee (Dry) @ RM6.50 per serving

Vegetable soup @ RM3 per serving.
Simple vegetables soup to clear the spicy throat.

Elaine ordered Knife cut noodles (Dried prawns soup) @ RM6.80 per serving
Clear soup base with the firm knife cut noodles brings out the aroma of the hot pipping noodles. It taste extremely warm when you have it during rainny days.

Porkball soup @ RM5 for 6pcs of porkball.
No much comment of it. The soup base are taste alike with vegetable soups.

The serving time was fast within 15 minutes i would say so.
Fret not to go with empty stomach but just don't finish up the bottle of chilli flakes that may you go red!

Brunch with Antipodean @ Bangsar

We headed for brunch the next day noon to be exact. I finally get the chance to patronize Antipodean located at Bangsar Baru. I seen many good reviews through the website and looking forward to explore the culture cafe. The cafe has the similar concept like Wild Honey in Singapore. So, you can imagine the concept behind.

Antipodean - pronounced "an.tip.o.de.an" (adj) means:-
(1) coming from or relating to Australia or New Zealand
(2) Ancient Greek: anti "opposed" pous "foot" opposite points on the globe.

The cafe was already occupied by crowds and we are in the waiting list. We waited for approximately 15 minutes to get a seat. The queue is like never ending so you can imagine the business is booming.

Photos taken using Canon camera:-

Rare scene phone of Elaine & Me

The lists of foods & drinks menu are all scribbled with chalk across the board of the cafe wall. We have difficulties looking at the menu as the place is already crowded with people and we need to stand and turn our heads around up and down, here and there to see the available choices. It would be best to have the hard copy of the menu on hand so that we can flip it and choose carefully.

Mango Lassi @ RM10 which truly mango with thick fruit taste of drink

Iced Cappucino @ RM10

Iced Mocha @ RM19

Big Breakfast @ RM19 per serving. The combination of toast bacon with scrambled eggs and sauteed mushroom. The portion was just nice but it's overdose of scrambled eggs for me as i can't finish it all. Taste is as good as it looks. The scarmbled eggs are moist and buttery taste and i love to eat them with the grain bread.

Scrambled eggs salmon with toast @ RM19 per serving. The combination of the salmon with scrambled eggs to go with the fresh salads and grain bread does give a choice for salmon lover. It's the choice of Elaine as she loves salmon.

It's absolutely a decent choice to hop by if you are staying in KL. Such a rare opportunity to have lovely brunch with affordable price for whole day breakfast in KL. It is lovely to have gathering and bonding session with loved ones and friends but try not to have them over the weekend as it is surely packed with people and you just have to speak slightly louder to each other.

Asides to this, no reservations are allowed and only accept walk-in customers. The customers' turnover is quite fast so it's reasonable that no reservations are allowed. So be prepare to wait a while before getting seated for your lovely brunch

Chinatown Seng Kee, Kuala Lumpur

November has been a busy month from the start. I spend my first weekend of the month at Kuala Lumpur. Thanks to rui for his hospitality over the weekend. We reached KL around 10plus and we headed to chinatown Seng Kee located at Jalan Sultan, Petaling Jaya Street. The last time i had them was 1-2 years ago with Sin Yee if my memory never fails me.

The kitchen is just by the road side and the ingredients and kitchen utensils are all prepared outside. So, if you are concern with hygiene, you might want to think twice.
But the foods are as good as it taste.

The famous Lao Shu Fen (Rice noodles) with raw egg.
It's their signature dish and very rich with their ingredients. It is served with claypot and pipping hot. The minced meats are covered on top of the rice noodles and when it mix together with the raw eggs, it taste delicious. The texture is smooth and Q as the raw egg are mixed together and cover the first layer of the rice noodles. It can just slipped through the chopsticks.

Another famous signature dish- Siew Yuk Noodles.
The noodles are wantan mee or also known as sang meen which topped with siew yuk and cooked with dark soy sauce. It's superb dark, greasy with the siew yuk( fried roast pork) and lotsa garlic mixed together with the noodle. I don't really favor it as it is greasy and oily for me

Too much of the oily, greasy and meaty dishes, we ordered a plate of vegetable to go with it.
No much comment on the vegetables but it's truly chewy and fresh.

As for the price wise, i personally think is affordable. It's around RM10++ per pax for the dishes and drinks we ordered. Absolutely worth trying KL signature dish which open for business for late nights. There are always people come here purposely to have it for supper after their clubbing sessions or whatever reason.

No proper address found in website. So if you wish to give it a try, take a left immediately after Nando's when you are heading towards Petaling Street (Jalan Sultan). Just keep heading straight and you will see the restaurant at the end on your right side.
Good Luck!!

Hokkaido Ichiba @ The Gardens Mall, KL

Took this snapshot using Instagram and it is my first shot of the Friday morning from Cititel Midvalley.I love the snap and it shows the bustling city of KL early morning.

This is my first trip to KL for meeting in my current company and it is truly a good experience. I waited for 5 hours to have the meeting going and i missed my flight.Took the flight back the next day morning.

Nevertheless we had our dinner at Hokkaido Ichiba @ The Gardens Mall as our client would like to have Japanese cuisine. So thanks to him we had a good dinner on that night and even gave me a chance to snap the photos before everyone starts the dinner.

Pardon my photos as it is all taken using iPhone. Thus, explains the quality of the photos. Fret not the food taste is awesome despite on the photo qualities. It's our first time here and we are satisfied with the food quality and services. The staffs do replenish my ocha without even asking them to do. They are prompt to our queries as well.

Unagi Ozushi Sushi RM28
Autumn MK RM22

Presentation is splendid. Unagi is soft and not dry to go with the sushi rice. Autumn MK consists of ebiko (fish roe),lobster salad and avocados as the topping of the sushi rice. I love the combination taste of sushi and gives me a thumbs up for my craving of the day.

Atsuyaki Tamago RM 7
This is recommended by my client. Don't be deceive with the look as it is japanese fried egg and the egg texture is very smooth like silken tofu. Simplicity is great!

Ala Carte for Kushiyaki Mori RM35
Combination of hotate (scallop) from left, meatball, leek with pork, salmon meat, shishamo, mushroom and chicken.

Gindara Shioyaki RM28
As you can see the gindara meat is very smooth and tender. I love having it.

This is a must try ala carte.
Many thanks to my client for his excellent recommendation.
Wagyu Tataki 75g RM75 is exactly good recommendation for beef lover.
Nicely sliced surface grilled japanese beef. The medium well done wagyu texture able to make you savour into the heavenly taste.

Setsu no Sashimi Moriawase RM 180
Sashimi assortment with toro, hamachi, salmon, mekajiki, ebio, sea urchin and prawn. The Toro was splendid taste as you can feel the fats around your mouth edge when you put into your mouth. All the sashimi are fresh and nicely sliced.

Next we have Aburi Kaki Ponzu RM18
Superb delicious fresh oyster with wakame, cucumber and japanese ponzu. You can truly taste the osyter freshness and won't feel uncomfortable with the taste as ponzu blend it well with the combination.

Ankimo Ponzu RM13
It's the frogfish liver aka japanese foie gras. It's my first time to try it and the taste and texture is alike with french foie gras. Definitely a nice try of the dish.

 Negitoro Temaki RM12
I miss it so i couldn't miss the chance not to order it. It totally complete my meal of the day :)

I would definitely visit the restaurant again if I happen to go to KL again.
We also ordered sake and beer that night and total bill was RM738.90. It is definitely a luxurious dinner for 4 pax.

Pre-Exam Dinner

In a blink of eyes i'm back in jb again. I went to KL for exam and luckily for me that i have good sisters who accompany me for dinner and allow me to stay overnite at her place. As u know that my grandpa just passed away and some people are quite pantang with it. To my surprise, she just said it's alright. So nice of her.Sometimes i feel that i amd very fortunate that i have a bunch of care friends who always helps me whenever i needed.

So i reached KL in the evening and P.har bought JY and me to Jaya One for dinner. After walking around Jaya One deciding what to have for dinner, we decided to try this japanese cum western style japanese restaurant.

I am having this 100 days vegetarian foods now and the only dish i can order is the curry set rice. The white rice with the japanese curry sauce and half egg only.

Picture of me looking down with my dinner piece...

Close up pic of my curry rice. They said like prisonner food.Does it look like one?

Phar with her hamburger set.I ate her brocolli and brinjal because she doesnt want to eat vegetable. So basically i have extra dishes other than the half egg.

JY with her unagi set. The unagi size is big and seems like very delicious. I was craving for the fish but need to curb the temptations..

After the dinner, we had photo shoots with the iphone. Both of them using Iphone and i was the one lag behind using my sony ericson phone. So i fully utilize their iphone functions and tried out the photography software they downloaded but never use. I know i too free dy but no choice gals love to camwhore..

Lomo effects

Old photo pro effect.I love the old photo pro effect as it gives me the feeling of cherishing the old times with precious one. I know i sound a bit sentimental but this is how my emotional works all the time.I tend to think a lot and wish a lot of things but somehow rather things doesn't work the way it is.

Group photos of us. I know the last pic looks blur.Blame the waitress that doesn't know how to use iphone to take pic.just kidding...

Really a big thanks and hugs to my nuts family members. It has been a fortunate to get to know u guys. The encouragement and the lending hands whenever i need. I'm such a lucky ones to be the youngest in the family..
